Reed HS (Sparks, NV) Soph. Gabby Williams wins the Girls 100m hurdles for a new Nevada state record that had endured for 13 years with the winning time of 14.11

While Southern Nevada has their superman in distance stud Nick Hartle.. (congraduations to him for cemeting his name as arguably the best Nevada HS distance man to this date -- move over Wade Meddles, Sierra Lutheran -- a worthy champion from 2010).. what we have in Northern Nevada is the equivalent of Zena, TV princess warrior in Gabby Williams.

With ice in her veins.. Gabby did not disappoint as she went on to win all the events she entered.  Gabby broke the state record for HJ with a jump of 5-11.

[NOTE;  I wasn't there for Friday's events so I cannot comment on her total BORG assimilation (borrowed from Star Trek Deep Space Nine)  of her competition]

As for Saturday's HJ, I didn't get too excited when she cleared 5-11.. (been there, seen that, photographed it  -- besides I don't deserve a cookie  when I already captured her clearing 6- 1 1/2").  so I didn't have any reason to mosy to the HJ area for any photo opportunities.

Back to the hurdles.. I always have a hard time to gauge which would make a better photo.. the finish line or the clearing the last hurdle.

Not owning a Nikon D3 shooting at 9 fps and a matching 6K lens.. I opted for the finish line shot.   No spray and pray like many photo journalists to get the shot for me.

When you absolutely and positively (borrowed from Fed-Ex without permission) need the finish line shot.  I too got ice in my veins and an attitude to match.Laughing
